With the complete construction of “San Chung rive for dredging the flood” during year 1984, adding the concrete constructions in LuZhou city afterwards, it is from a “bleak region“ turned into a “abundant city”. At present, LuZhou city is a region which is full of tall commercial buildings with well public facilities and has a flourishing industry and vigorous commercial businesses. Though being the smallest district in Taipei Hsien, but it is the number 2 in population density of Taipei Hsien. Also it owns a 3th grade historic spot called: Family Lee monument and the top 4 musical instruments maker : “Musix Co., Ltd.”. With the convenient rapid transportation and the MTR being under construction, there will more people glad to move in.

E. Additional comments concerning your computer and/or Internet access (Optional):

(1)There are 3 rooms as computer classrooms total with 120 sets Computer systems for students’ use.We use the dedicated ADSL from Taipei Hsien (ISDN/1M/T1) to communicate with objects outside. (2)The network in participators’ home:Every participator has his own computer system and sneds emails to communicate with each other through ADSL wide band, network Hard disk and the “2005 6th Taiwan School CyberFair” website to go ahead the program study after classes finished.

4. Problems We Had To Overcome

(1)The conflict between interview schedule and cram school time: Due to the daytime work in Musix Co., Ltd. and most of grade 6th students were not available until Wednesday afternoon for the necessary attending to the cram school, so they had a day off from cram school and were divided into 2 groups to go ahead to complete the interview activities. (2)The conflict between discussion time and school activities: The lunch time is the participators to gather together for discussion and data collection. There were a lots of students attending this program but quitted finally because some of they are leaders of classes, members of Clarinet club or joining other activities in the same period, they can not help to quit joining this. (3)The problems we faced during interview: With not familiar with the musical instruments, participators spent a lot of time in advance to try to get the key points for interview. Finally, we passed the “exam” to complete the meeting with maintenance department in a successful ending. (4)The difficulties to collect the information: Though Musix Co. Ltd. is belonged to be one of the KHS group; it has no their own independent database. The data are spread over every department which let us have no enough time visit all of them. However, we highly appreciate Musix Co., Ltd. to supply us the necessary information for us to study. (5)The ups and downs process to visit the factory: The fixed appointment was happened to the same time of Musix’s annual inventory check to stop working in factory after our having a day off from cram school, so we have to change the schedule. The updated schedule was the same day with semi final exam by chance, finally there only 2 students joined this interview under their parents’ agreement. (6)Insufficient capacity in website creating: With only one-week website making experience, we eventually accomplished it successfully through the instructions from instructors Huang, Ci-Fen and Bi, Zhi-Wei and grad 5th students for photo treatment skills.

5. Our Project Sound Bite

“There is a world famous enterprise in LuZhou city!!” said by the instructors.“Really?! There comes a famous company in the smallest district of LuZhou city?Under the curiosity, it drives us to start this program. With never touching the same filed of research, we have a lot of 1st times to contribute the “---Taiwan School CyberFair”---The 1st time to see the maintenance for musical instruments; the 1st time to have a interview; the 1st time to put most attention to a major activities and the 1st time to experience how the importance of teamwork is. Seeing the 40-year professional experiences from specialist Li, Jin Yong and specialist He, Yu Xia who pays their most attention in the one field; we respect them for this. Most of importance is that they transfer the skills to the next generation without any protections to let it keep going to next century. This is motive for human’ progress!! After this study of Musix Co., Ltd., we find there is a top 4 business company nearby and we learn so much especially insisting to pay most attention in same field to make progress as the same as specialist Li and his co-workers to receive the harvest result. Although LuZhou city is not a big region but with its famous enterprise, we deeply believe that it will have deeper influence to the Taiwan musical education that we will be proud of.

6. How did your activities and research for this CyberFair Project support standards, required coursework and curriculum standards?

The harvest from students---- A. The experience outside the classroom: Being out of classroom without having books, we have to takes notes by ourselves to collect all the information from visiting the “Musix Co., Ltd.” and to sort out again latter. From Zero to All, it is a wonderful experience for us to accumulate the necessary knowledge. Most of important is to see the wonderful result finally. B. Score is not equal to capability: From this interview, teachers found that the students with lively spirit in school were more active than the ones with higher scores; also the former ones had better observation for details during the actives. With this experience, we deeply know that everyone has his talent to do something. C. Plans can not catch up with changes: We had no good luck to have a interview to the musical instruments plant located in Kuo-Li, Chung Li city because fixed appointed time is their annual inventory check that made us have to postpone. The 2nd time was happened again due to be the same day of our semi final exam.So we enjoyed the process of musical instruments manufacturing from the relative photos teachers brought back for us. d.The importance of Cooperation and trust each other: According the whole process, we find that its huge duty which is totally different from the reports we did as easier as before to collect data and copy any information. With the cooperation relied on each other of teamwork, it let us understand the capability from members even to trust each other resulting in carrying out a big mission with happier atmosphere.

Project Elements

1) What information tools & technologies did you used to complete your CyberFair project?

(1)Video/Sound-- Digital Camera(Photo recording)?Printer(Photo output)?Scanner(Photo digital treatment)?DV(Photo recording) (2)Contact--Telephone?Cell phone (Communicate)?Email(Communicate and negotiate)?Paper(agreement) (3)Information Collection--Computers?Books?Photos?Interview (4)Computer Utility Software Program-- Photoimpact8?NamoWebEditor?FrontPage?SWiSHmax?Internet Explorer?Word 2000?Outlook Express?ACD See?FTP?Ulead MediaStudio Pro 7.0

2) In what ways did you act as "ambassadors" and spokespersons for your CyberFair project both on-line and in person.

We made a list for all the information including the schedule, topics and content presented to Mr. Yi Xie of Musix Co., Ltd. by email to request him to fix a appointment with his company. After the interview, we sent the records to him to double check the text being correct.

3) What has been the impact of your project on your community?

We thought what a musical instrument enterprise is with leisurely atmosphere; the things in front us is totally different from what we think. From the metal raw materials to copper plate until a musical instrument completed, there combines the heavy industry and metal treatment technique with experienced specialists’ skills to make these products qualified as commercial items to be sold; that is under numerous co-workers’ endeavors to make it happened. Whenever we list to the elegant music played by musicians; there must be a lots anonymous heros contributed to it.

4) How did your project involve other members of your community as helpers and volunteers?

After collecting the relative information of Musix Co., Ltd. in advance, we started to contact with them and accepted the agreement from Mr. Tang for our interview. We requested Mr. Yi Xie Li to negotiate with them the schedule in details and accompanied with us from LuZhou to ChungLi. He is right the consultant we have to appreciate.

5) Discoveries, Lessons and Surprises (Optional)

After finished this program, we deeply know that it is a tough task to run a huge enterprise especially to promote/expand the musical education in efficiency at short term. I found the brand of harmonica which my father played before is “butterfly”; the earlier organ and rhythm instruments which teachers played during their elementary school were all made by the musical instruments located in LuZhou city. The musical instruments played by musicians in the National Concert Hall are almost sponsored by “Musix Co., Ltd.”. Band music clubs, Band Music Festivals, Clarinet Session Clubs are handled and sponsored continued by the same company of “Musix”. Its huge mission includes from manufacturing, education, selling and maintenance and has a root deeply in the domestic musical education as what we see. The musical instrument plant located in ChungLi countryside is a world famous maker; the smallest district of LuZhou city is the global logistic center for the top 5 musical instrument enterprise in the world. Then the endeavor from the co-worker, in ChungLi and LuZhou cities, putting into these products, we did surprise at their mirage what they make.
