Project Overview

1. Description of Our Community

Our community starts in what we consider our second home, St. Benedict College. The school encourages us to enhance and develop our abilities in different fields. They push us to reach out and share what we store in our minds. And in this Cyberfair Contest we were able to get full support from them again.

While in our class and our teacher, there was a bond and unity made. Together we shared the fun we had during the trip as well as the gifts each one of us have in creating an interesting and exciting web page. Our next community is Angono, Rizal. This is one of the homes of creative and talented Filipino artists. It is a beautiful place located at the eastbound of Ortigas Avenue and situated after Cainta. Here we found the marvelous works of our own Filipino artists whom we could all be proud of. They have imparted to us that their arts do not only contain colorful images but also have deeper meanings. And to think of it, this is not just the only place where you could see the talents of the Filipinos but there are more in our country!

2. Summary of Our Project

Our web page depicts and revolves around local artists found in the Philippines specifically Angono, Rizal. It emphasizes that there is more to see in our Filipino people. It shows that we are blessed of being innovative and artistic. These characteristics are revealed with the colorful and imaginative paintings of our artists, their expressive and meaningful sculptures, other arts and many more crafts. The well-known art galleries of our artists Jose Blanco and his family, Nemi R. Miranda and Rafael Pacheco are those whom we visited and had a chance to explore. These galleries showed their masterpieces, their talents and the expression of their feelings through their arts. It made each of us know and realize that we aren’t left behind with other countries when we speak of Arts. We must do our part as Filipinos to appreciate and help in promoting the ingenuity of our fellowmen.

3. Our Computer and Internet Access

A. Percentage of students using the Internet at home:more than 50%

B. Number of workstations with Internet access in the classroom:more than 6

C. Connection speed used in the classroom:dedicated connection

D. Number of years our classroom has been connected to the Internet:2-3

4. Problems We Had To Overcome

The only problem we have encountered is the time. The lack of time in preparation and most especially in the execution of the project has been a major burden to us. It is said that time is gold and we didn’t hesitate to waste the time. The invitation to join this contest was given just the last week of January and the registration deadline was the 31st of the month of January. We had to make some arrangements just to join this contest. We did our very best to cope up with everything, we had to have extra effort and the determination. Making the web page is not much of a problem to us. This is because some of the students have their own talent and the ability on web page designing. They also have the background on Flash 5 which you will be seeing in our website.

5. Our Project Sound Bite

The participation to Cyberfair Web Page Competition give us an opportunity to apply our lesson in Practical Arts or Technology Subject, Here we also learned a lot, we learn to appreciate visual arts, techniques and to value our very own local artists. On this activity we developed commaraderie among ourselves, love for our school and our country.

6. How did your activities and research for this CyberFair Project support standards, required coursework and curriculum standards?

Our Cyberfair project considered to have enhanced our own abilities in inquiring, observing, writing, designing and using our imagination, creativity and socializing. This focuses on the curriculum of English, History and Arts. We have learned new skills, such as painting. In painting, we just have to play with the colors and not necessarily to think so much. We just have to take it easy. In this way, we are able to express ourselves more rather than being enclosed in a certain technique. We have also learned to have the determination and the initiative in everything we do. We just have to strive hard and do our very best to have the success!

In doing this project, we have practiced our camaraderie. The cooperation of everyone has helped make this project to be as easy as it can get.

Project Elements

1) What information tools & technologies did you used to complete your CyberFair project?

In order for us to complete and make this project as such we used: Computers,Video cameras,Digital cameras,Scanners ,Telephones,Internet, Flash 5.0, Microsoft Word ,Paint Shop Pro, Notepad, Museums, Oral interviews ,Exposure trip

Tools are great equipments that can help us in our everyday lives. It makes us do the job in an easier and faster manner. On the other hand, technology is the tool that we are using now. Both the tools and the technology did help us in completing our project. These tools helped us in a way that it made our work without much difficulty and accurately. We have located these tools with some help on the school. The school gave us the opportunity to use the computers wherein we have done our project. The most valuable tool that we have is the computer. It is the most essential thing that we have because without it we could not make an entry. We will not even be in this contest without it. As for the things that were most helpful, it would be the information that we got from museums and the oral interviews.

It is the highlight of this project and with that information we can share them to the world.

2) In what ways did you act as "ambassadors" and spokespersons for your CyberFair project both on-line and in person.

An “ambassador” is a person representing his or her own country but in the case of this project, it’s the school. Representing the school is a great opportunity and as well as an honor. We were able to apply the things we have learned while having a great pleasure during the trip and making this. It is also an ample amount of responsibility for us to have the school be known and be recognized. Honestly, at the beginning of the project the one who became an “ambassador” is our very own mentor in Practical Arts subject, Mr. Dante Madali. He is the most enthusiastic one who made all the possible arrangements. He got all information via Internet.

But, as we conduct our exposure trip we have proven that we can also be “ambassadors”. This was seen in doing interviews and all of the explanations we have gone thru.

Being “ambassadors” brought about our courage and our self-confidence. It also led us to discover the gift of talking to different types of people.

3) What has been the impact of your project on your community?

The greatest impact we have had in this project is that we obtained a bond between the school and the community. They even offered to have a curriculum in the school to help the students in the arts.

We, the students have gained and obtained knowledge in the sense that they have implanted lessons and values that may be used in everyday lives. They have shared a great understanding about the life of the people. his project will make such a difference to support the local artists.

4) How did your project involve other members of your community as helpers and volunteers?

Other members of the community help us in many ways, like our school services for providing schedule and reservation of the trip. The High School IMC for camera, video cam, and other materials, the laboratory assistant, our contacts in Angono and We would like to thank our HS Principal for providing the School Bus we used for gathering data and for the support he extended to us. Our very own teacher Mr. Dante F. Madali for encouraging us to join the contest, and for giving an advise and tips in the design.

5) Discoveries, Lessons and Surprises (Optional)

We discovered that we really do are gifted with different talents and abilities. And also, no one is stopping us to show what we have in ourselves. We could all be artists! It is simply done with a great heart, imaginative mind and our selves. We’ve learned that we must not overlook our local artists. They try and give their efforts to show the world how remarkable and outstanding Filipinos are. They need support and we must be the first ones to give it to them. We also have learned that without cooperation and unity nothing could work out. Even a quote says that: “no man is an island”. We must work together, and together we will gain the recognition that is for us.
