Project Overview

1. Description of Our Community

Jinyang Village is located about 5.6 kilometers south to Wuta Station of Beihui railway, right bank of the Dananao South River, north to Yu-en Mt. The elevation is about 120 meters. If you want to visit Jinyang Village from Nan-ao in 1980s, you had to take a tractor from Suhua Road to Wuta Village, and then to the riverbed road along Danao-ao South River. It took about 2 hours to reach the village after passing several check points. In the bad weather, the traffic problem became even worse. Today, a lot of people come to Jinyang for camping trups as traffic conditions are improved. Amidst green mountains and clear water, maple forest and winding rivers, Jinyang Village is a perfect get-away place and the entrance to Mystery Lake.

2. Summary of Our Project

Jinyang Village, the farthest Atayal tribe in Nan-ao Township, is gifted with beautiful sceneries, rich culture, and abundant natural resources. In this project, by unveiling the mystry of Jinyang Tribe, students can grow more attached to their native land.

B. Number of workstations with Internet access in the classroom:more than 6

C. Connection speed used in the classroom:dedicated connection

D. Number of years our classroom has been connected to the Internet:4-6

E. Additional comments concerning your computer and/or Internet access (Optional):

The school computer room is the main place for students to use the Internet, collect information and organization. The computer room has 20 computers, all of them are connected to the Internet. There is also on FTP server for students to upload their photos and data.

4. Problems We Had To Overcome

Problems:Poor weather?Insufficient time?Short deadlines for webpage editing Description:We wanted to spend our spare time on field investigation, but often ran into poor weather.?We supposed to organize the information after the trip, yet it was already, and we had to go to school the next day, so we didn’t have enough time.?Because everyone was busy during the semester, and waited until the time to edit wepbages. Solution:We arranged all of our outdoor events on the same day, sometimes even during school time.?We would write the comments on the learning slip, then type into the computers.?We asked the volunteers from Fo Guang University to help us editing the webpages.

5. Our Project Sound Bite

Kiyang Village is a place with rich culture and abundant natural resources. We are glad to have this opportunity to learn more about this place. We have learned so much skills and knowledge from some interesting activities, and we hope to learn more about the culture of Kiyang Village. By participating in this project, we want others to know about the tourism resources of Kiyang, and welcome everyone to Kiyang.

6. How did your activities and research for this CyberFair Project support standards, required coursework and curriculum standards?

http://kingyang.741.com/narrative.htm TO better present the tourism resources of Kiyang Village knowledge skill ?interview skill and research skill Although this project should be about information that we could learn from daily life, such as the history of Kiyang Village, weaving culture, and natural resources, we didn’t find those in our daily life. Some students didn’t know how to weave and fishing, or the significance to protect the rivers. Through this project, we surprisingly learned so much value culture and resources of Kiyang Village, and became more attached to this place. Through this project, we have developed position identification and mission toward Kiyang Village.

Yet after several interviews, our interview skills improved, and the elders were very pleased with our growth.
