Project Overview

1. Description of Our Community

We are grade five and six students who study at Ju-Pu elementary school in Tainan county. We have one computer class in a week. At last semester about September , we know the message from our teacher. So we consider what is our community's feature carefully. Because the head of neighborhood tell us the Dove's Ling is a special amorous feelings in Tainan county , we decide “Dove's Ling” for our theme. And make this monograph become web page, let people on Taiwan area and the people in the word know our rural amorous feelings.

2. Summary of Our Project

At present the activity of Dove,s Ling is popular in Yi-Zhu village Chiayi county,Ding-Zhou neighborhood Xue Jia town Tainan county, Ju-Pu neighborhood yan shui town Tainan county.(Weng weng weng------)the sound of Dove,s Ling ,become the field's symphony,give us a brend-new life.With the agriculture wane gradually,we should keep and continue this local feature,and then justice to know our culture of Dove,s Ling.let it has local and sightseeing character further.

Our equipments of computer are not good enough. All equipments were bought in 1999,so the speed of computer's equipments are slow. But the speed of network is fast. Therefore, when we search for information, we didn't get lots of frustration..

4. Problems We Had To Overcome

?.It is difficult to translate the proper noun: When We visit the old master in our village , we use vernacular to communicate with each other.It is very easy for children who grow from the countryside to talk with vernacular. The master express some proper noun in vernacular, but it is really difficult to translate proper noun in vernacular to mother language. We have some promble in record,so when we make our monograph, sometimes we use phonetic symbols to assume vernacular pronunciation. ?.It is not easy to match the night time: Our visiters are almost day worker.They just have free time at night.However some of our students must go to conference at night who can not attend the interview.It is so pity! ?.Information and bibliography are difficult to collect: Dove's Ling is our local folk custom,so it has rare bibliography about Dove's Ling. But we still try our best to finish the monograph.We believe it is helpful for someone who want to study the Dove's Ling issue.

5. Our Project Sound Bite

The tradition of ‘Dove Ling’ has been long history in Tainan county, especially in Ju-Pu, the place where we live and its origination as well. Through the project, teachers will guide us to know our culture distinction more.

6. How did your activities and research for this CyberFair Project support standards, required coursework and curriculum standards?

The monograph at this time, we are the leading role of learning, not audience and by stander. For this reason, we combine culture, art, social resources and people in community by participating cyberfair. To visit Dove's Ling masters to learn source of Dove's Ling, the way of the competition about Dove's Ling----etc. We go into studying activity by multi-ways, integrating the sources of network and technology equipments that teacher offer. We show the interesting theme of web page . In the process, we learn the ability of analysis, induction,organization,and association. We also learn the skill of expressing and communicating. Further more, we learn how to respect others to promote team spirit. Besides above , i, we should have positive attitude to finish our monograph in the studying process . The most important, we can share our feeling, thinking and happiness.

Project Elements

1) What information tools & technologies did you used to complete your CyberFair project?

When we make this theme, beside using network and books to collect information, we also go to visit relative people live in Ju-Pu neigherhood who are good at Dove's Ling. In information technology, we use of digital camera,digital camcorder ,recording pen,computer,cell phone,printer,photocopier,CD burner,information of network,verbal visitiation and lots of software of page fabrication to assist the local monograph. we think the most important tool is digital camera. Because it can help us to record and take real conditions when we make the monograph.

2) In what ways did you act as "ambassadors" and spokespersons for your CyberFair project both on-line and in person.

Before visiting, we usually collect information, make visitatorial questions, disscuss from each other and practice in advance. For reducing mistakes on live situation. Our teachers tell us about our manners and relative items about Dove's Ling. After our visitation, we manger visiting content to document. Because we have enough preparation,we go on second and third visitation, we don't feel nervous more.

3) What has been the impact of your project on your community?

4) How did your project involve other members of your community as helpers and volunteers?

We should appreciate Ming Jie Wei the head of a neighborhood .He combines school and community, let our visitation very brilliant. Besides Ming Jie Wei, we also appreciate Shang Yi Zhou, he sew the dove's tail in person.. Further, we must say “thank you” to Han Zhong Wang, he show the food and nutrition of dove to us. And the final person we want to appreciate is Rong Zhe Xie, he explain the way of making Dove's Ling.

5) Discoveries, Lessons and Surprises (Optional)

Do you know the growth of dove? Do you know how to make Dove's Ling? Do you know the source of Dove's Ling? You can get these knowledge from the monograph of Dove's Ling . Have you ever read literature and art work about Dove's Ling? We visit local culture arts, and also make some articles,poem,and the work of Dove's Ling. We really learn many things from this time's assignment.
