Summary:
This project is for more advanced students. Students in the United States and Uzbekistan will read text on a series of relevant global problems that affect the world at large, including labor migration, human trafficking, youth crime, youth activism, environmental degradation.
After reading the piece and discussing it among the class with their teacher, the classes research the problem in their neighborhoods, including interviewing members of the community involved in the issue. Splitting the class into groups, the class then writes 3-4 short reflections (possibly including pictures) which are then posted on the forum site during a three-day period every two or three weeks. During the three-day period, classes also have the opportunity to respond to their partners’ posts. Through this process, material for a website on reflections on common problems is created.
