California Missions
California's rich mission history ranges from the crude beginnings of brushwood shelters to a mighty chain of twenty-one majestic missions. This saga is one of accomplishment by a group of strong Spanish administrators, cultured and dedicated Franciscan priests, brave leather-jacket soldiers, and countless thousands of California's native Americans. This page provides brief descriptions of six of the twenty-one California missions. Please return often to this site to find updates on California's other fifteen missions.
